Have you ever wondered how people make those fancy images with their digital product or website inserted into a stock image?  That type of image is called a mockup and, guess what, you don’t have to be a graphic designer with elaborate photoshop skills to achieve this look!  You can create an amazing mockup just like that in Canva.  Yes, Canva!  Check out the tutorial in the video below!

Here are a few tips from the video:

• When choosing a photo to use, make sure the screen of the device is straight on (aka not as a perspective).  As of right now (April 2020), Canva does not have the capability to let you distort or skew an image.  However, as you can see above, it can be at a rotated angle.  This can be a little trickier because it’s a little harder to get the overlay to line up correctly. See how I “hack” this in the video.
• You also don’t want to use a photo where the device has anything obstructing it. (i.e. a finger, a shadow, or a plant, etc.)
• Leave a hairline border of black around your screenshot on phones and tablets to make it look more realistic.
• Adjust your photo settings of the screenshot you are overlaying to make it look more realistic or to match the brightness of the stock photo you used.
• Use Google Chrome’s “developer tools” to get just the right screenshot size for your device.
